Jean-Francois Trani, associate professor at the Brown School, Washington University in St Louis, investigates the intersection of mental health, disability, vulnerability, stigma and poverty with a focus on conducting field research that informs policy and service design for individuals living in conflict affected fragile states, and other low-income countries. He is currently looking at the impact of a participatory intervention using community-based system dynamics and project based learning on cognitive and non-cognitive learning outcomes of primary school going children in Afghanistan and Pakistan. He is also working on social determinants of dementia in the US, Afghanistan, Pakistan and South Africa.
