Maryam Rafieifar

Assistant Professor in Social Work and Child Advocacy at Montclair State University

Maryam Rafieifar is an assistant professor in the Department of Social Work & Child Advocacy at Montclair State University. Her research focuses on the intersection of child welfare and immigration, and her primary research goal is to support disenfranchised children and families through community-engaged research. She also has a strong background and advanced training in quantitative and qualitative research methods and is now focused on conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses. She has received several competitive awards and grants, including a fellowship at the American Association of University Women and Group for Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work. In addition, her community-based grant writing activities have served U.S. citizen children separated or at risk of separation from their undocumented parents. Previously, she worked with immigrant communities at different international organizations, including the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
