
Mee Young Um

Dr. Mee Young Um is an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Work in the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on identifying social and cultural determinants of behavioral health among transnational populations, including refugees and immigrants. She has a particular interest in utilizing social network analysis to inform the development of psychosocial interventions aimed at enhancing social integration, mental health, and overall well-being among these marginalized populations. Dr. Um’s current project employs a community-based participatory research approach to examine social network characteristics and suicidal thoughts among six refugee subgroups resettled in Phoenix, Arizona.
